Mt Roraima, Canaima National Park

#3 of 17 in Things to do in Canaima National Park
Mountaineering and hiking enthusiasts should not miss Mt Roraima, a tabletop mountain with a diversity of natural spectacles. Situated on the triple border between Brazil, Guyana, and Venezuela, it ranks among the oldest geological formations in the world. With 400 m (1,300 ft) cliffs surrounding on all sides but one, the only hike available for amateur mountaineers runs from the small Venezuelan village of Paraitepui. Embark on the long trek and explore the rich ecosystem of the remote mountain, spot numerous endemic plants, or view its stunning caves and waterfalls. Reach the 2,810 m (9,220 ft) summit, admire the spectacular vistas, and camp out in the isolated wilderness. • At the end of the dry season, we took part in the Roraima Mountain trek from Paraitepui Village for 6 nights, and spent three nights at the top tepuis of Mt. Roraima. Usually, the group tour of the Japan is mostly the pattern of two nights at the peak, but we recommend staying three nights at the summit. The Brazil side from the triple point (three-country border point): the route to the Prow is a straight line of superb scenery. On the Venezuela side and the Brazil side of the Loraima Mountain, the formation of the earth and the temperature were different, the vegetation and the scenery were different, and the Brazil side was the world of the LOST WORLD. There is no dinosaur like a movie, but the world of ancient times continued from the time of the Pangaea continent such as primitive frogs, carnivorous plants, and mysterious plants had spread. At Akanan Travel & Adventure, where I asked for a local arrangement for this trek, I was able to challenge the trek with peace of mind by applying the Felix of the Veteran Guide (conversation: English) as A through guide during my stay. For your information... The Venezuela was not in Caracas in, but from Barcelona, and a day and a half by land transfer from Barcelona to Paraitepui village.

  • Mount Roraima lies on the Guiana Shield in the southeastern corner of Venezuela's 30,000-square-kilometre (12,000-square-mile) Canaima National Park forming the highest peak of Guyana's Highland Range. The highest point in Guyana[5] and the highest point of the Brazilian state of Roraima[6] lie on the plateau, but Venezuela and Brazil have higher mountains elsewhere. The triple border point is at 5°12′08″N60°44′07″W,[6] but the mountain's highest point is Laberintos del Norte.
  • Mount Roraima is the highest of the Pakaraima chain of tepui plateaus in South America. First described by the English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh during his expedition in 1595, its 31-square-kilometre (12-square-mile) summit area is bounded on all sides by cliffs rising 400 metres (1,300 ft). The mountain also serves as the triple border point of Venezuela, Guyana and Brazil.
