Fairview Park, Costa Mesa

#5 of 17 in Things to do in Costa Mesa
We are a group of Costa Mesans that want to protect Fairview Park as we know it, an open space passive use nature park, and to help it become one of the best nature parks in Orange County. Fairview Park is the last bit of nature we have in an otherwise built out city. Just like the best nature parks the world over, the value of this area comes from it not being developed.

Thanks to citizens organizing and mobilizing in 2016 to successfully vote for a preservationist city council majority and enact legislation known as Measure AA to save Fairview Park from development, the focus now includes restoration of habitat which has been degraded and neglected for far too long while under review for development.

If you want to get involved in protecting, restoring, or maintaining Fairview Park as a nature park, then go ahead and like our facebook page for updates and ways to get involved.

This facebook page reflects the opinions and views of people who want to protect Fairview Park from development as well as helping it become a more sustainable nature park and the best acre for acre nature park experience in Orange County that allows humans and wildlife to coexist and thrive.

  • It's a massive park/reserve. People fly model planes here on Sunday. Covered tables are available in the open areas of the upper park. There are more tables in the lower park in a grassy shaded area that shouldn't be too hard to find from the stairs coming down from the upper part. Just keep following the main path. There are a lot of dirt paths in the lower park that can be fun to explore. It's next to the Santa Ana River Trail, which is nice if you want to go bicycling and eventually reaches the ocean (if you go in the right direction).
  • This great little escape of the local suburbs. There is even a nice airfield for drones lots of trails, people who walk their dogs, a few scattered benches or tables. It does get really windy so dress accordingly. It's a great soot to take a few pictures and go for a run, or even just park for lunch.
