  • I'm glad that I visited Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. It's literally an oasis in the Mojave Desert with natural springs and ground water reaching the surface to form clear blue water pools in an otherwise dry area.  I found this area to be drivable in a regular sedan. • It was a pretty cool place. Something to do to beat the heat in Death Valley. The refuge is open sunrise to sunset daily but the visitor center is open 800-1630. Take a walk on the boardwalks and take in the view. Will definitely return in a different season.
