Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, with an altitude of 1,085 m (3,560 ft). The microclimate and ecological beauty earned it the designation of the National Nature Reserve. Access the top by train or challenge yourself by going on foot. If you enjoy hiking or mountain climbing, choose from a variety of trail paths rated according to difficulty. Once at the top, enjoy some of the farthest-reaching views of the British Isles, including Ireland, Scotland, and England. For the least-strenuous route to the top, board the round-trip Victorian rack-and-pinion train. Either way, you can stop in for a mountaintop lunch at the summit cafe. Walked up Snowdon with friends in October, one of the hills that I have not yet climbed so had to do it before I get too old! Perfect weather, good cafe at top with Wifi! (Can't escape it!!). If you h... more »
Multiple routes to take. Some harder than others requiring more or less levels of fitness. Cafe at the top gets busy at holidays and weekends. Don't count on the train as it gets booked up in advance. Decent footwear and clothing at all times of year as weather can be all seasons in one day with wind/rain/heat all to be expected on any day of the year. Well worth the effort for hopefully cloud/fog free views. I walked with family, but can cycle up using specific trails. That is for next time though. Whole surrounding area is beautiful. Friendly locals and great pubs and cafes. Camping around here in the summer months must be amazing, spending a few days to explore the mountains. Go climb a mountain, then have a home cooked meal next to a wood burning stove whilst sipping a proper ale!
Mother nature at her best.. lovely and extraordinary views from top.. I felt bit of heaven ...
