Trip Planner: Europe / UK / England / Yorkshire / East Riding of Yorkshire / Kingston-upon-Hull / The Deep
Located in a strikingly angular, sloping building at the confluence of the Hull River and the Humber estuary, The Deep serves as home to thousands of sea creatures. Although the main attractions are the seven species of shark on display, the aquarium also boasts a collection of marine life that includes rays and many other tropical fish. You can take a stab at controlling an underwater diving vessel in the aquarium’s interactive area. A visit to The Deep represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Kingston-upon-Hull trip planning app to plot your vacation.

I have mixed feelings. The Deep sets out with a clear mission, not for profit, and to be fair it is priced reasonably for all the work they do. They had some really impressive tanks with a great selection but somehow we thought there would be more. The build up is very long and detailed, educational but blending it (education and tanks) would have been easier on the kids. Lighting was poor on some of the high big signs, we had to use our phone light to see them. Food was well priced in the cafe but kids thought school food was better quality. Sorry. The staff we talked to were brilliant. Very engaging and ready to share their knowledge. We were halfway way when we needed the cafe and a member of staff guided us to a back stage lift and sent us straight up. Can’t fault the staff. And finally, they have electric car charging which meant our car recharged as we explored. A great vision and good effort but some things could be re-thought a bit.
Lovely visit on mother's Day. Brilliant facilities and great for young kids and not so young kids (adults). I just wish the food options were less canteen school food feel and more deli style. More healthy and tasty options please rather than fried food
