On the bank of the Mtkvari River and at the foot of Trialeti mountain range, Tbilisi's location has given the city strategic significance since it was founded in the 5th century.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Georgian National Museum and Open Air Museum. Your inner history buff will appreciate Old Town (Altstadt) Tbilisi and Narikala Fortress. Venture out of the city with trips to Mtskheta (Jvari Church & Svetitskhoveli Cathedral). There's still lots to do: stop by Gallery 27, view the masterpieces at FOTOGRAФIA, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Tsminda Sameba Cathedral, and take in the views from The Bridge of Peace.
