The setting of some of the bloodiest battles of World War II, the vast city of Volgograd sits on the banks of the Volga River in the southern section of the country.
Go for a jaunt from Volgograd to Volzhsky to see Gidrostroitel City Park about 40 minutes away. There's much more to do: appreciate the history behind 'The Motherland Calls' Sculpture, contemplate the long history of The Ruins of the Mill Named after Grudinin, take a leisurely stroll along Central embankment of Volgograd, and make a trip to Hall of Military Glory.

If you are flying in from India, the closest major airport is Volgograd International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 26°C in September, and nighttime lows around 12°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
