Relax on the remote, undeveloped beaches in Rocha, an eastern province of Uruguay noted for its sleepy beachfront towns and pristine nature.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at La Pedrera and Playa de Punta del Diablo. Visit Faro Cabo Santa Maria and Fortress of Santa Teresa for their historical value. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Rocha: Playa Los Botes (in La Paloma) and Grutas de Salamanca (in Aigua). Spend the 14th (Fri) exploring nature at Santa Teresa National Park. There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Grande, tour the pleasant surroundings at Balneario Punta Rubia, look for all kinds of wild species at Monte de Ombúes, and take in the views from Puente Laguna Garzon.

Getting from Punta del Este to Rocha by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In February in Rocha, expect temperatures between 29°C during the day and 23°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Mon) to allow enough time to take a bus to Punta del Diablo.

Get outdoors at Playa de la Viuda and Cabalgatas Punta del Diablo. We've included these beaches for you: Playa de Los Pescadores and Cerro Verde e Islas de la Coronilla. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Parque Salto del Penitente and Museo de Replicas en Miniaturas.
