Protected from the Atlantic by sand spits and barrier islands, Lagos quickly grew into a mega city due to its location, and currently operates one of the continent's largest and busiest ports.
For shopping fun, head to Nike Art Gallery or Red Door Art Gallery. Get in touch with nature at Elegushi Beach and Gberefu Island (Point of No Return). Change things up with these side-trips from Lagos: The Henna Place (in Lekki), Badagry Slave Museum and Black History Museum (in Badagry) and Olumo Rock (in Abeokuta). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Freedom Park Lagos, browse the eclectic array of goods at Lekki Market, tour the pleasant surroundings at Lekki Conservation Centre, and take in the exciting artwork at Ovuomaroro Studio and Gallery.

To see more things to do and more tourist information, go to the Lagos trip itinerary planning website .

If you are flying in from India, the closest major airport is Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 38°C in April, and nighttime lows around 29°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
