Famous for its natural port and Byzantine castle, Kyrenia is not only a lovely old Venetian town, but also the most visited tourist destination in Northern Cyprus.
Step off the beaten path and head to Painted Churches in the Troodos Region and St Andrew's Church. Get in touch with nature at Scuba & Snorkeling and Kyrenia Animal Rescue. Get out of town with these interesting Kyrenia side-trips: Saint Mamas Church and Icon Museum (in Guzelyurt), Agios Ioannis Lambadistis Monastery (in Kalopanagiotis) and Panagia (Monastery) of Kykkos (in Pedoulas). The adventure continues: explore the ancient world of Bellapais Monastery, step into the grandiose world of Saint Hilarion Castle, stroll the grounds of Karaoglanoglu Sehitligi, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Chysopolitissa church.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major airports are Ercan International Airport, Larnaca International Airport and Paphos International Airport. In September in Kyrenia, expect temperatures between 39°C during the day and 24°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
