Petrozavodsk is the capital city of the Republic of Karelia, Russia, which stretches along the western shore of Lake Onega for some 27km. Get out of town with these interesting Petrozavodsk side-trips: Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (in Kondopoga) and Ancient volcano Girvas (in Hirvas).
