While often overlooked by foreign tourists, the heavily industrialized city of Foshan, part of the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone, has plenty to offer in terms of cultural attractions.
Shop till you drop at Guangzhong Back Yard and City of Dreams. Museum-lovers will appreciate Macao Museum and The Foshan Folk Art Researche Institute. Venture out of the city with trips to Macau (Historic Centre of Macau, Monte Forte (Fortaleza do Monte), & more), Zhaoqing (Dinghu Lake & Xinghu Lake of Zhaoqing) and Huangqi Mountain (in Dongguan). The adventure continues: shop like a local with Foshan Lingnan Tiandi, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at The Ancestral Temple, explore the striking landscape of Xiqiao Mountain National Forest Park, and contemplate the long history of Nanfeng Ancient Kiln.

Get a sense of the local culture at Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces and Guilin Arts Museum. Take a break from the city and head to South China Karst and Moon Hill. Explore Guilin's surroundings by going to Yangshuo County (West Street & Yulong River) and Ping'an Village (in Longsheng County). Traveling by combination of subway and flight from Foshan to Guilin takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of subway and train; or drive. Traveling from Foshan in November, things will get little chillier in Guilin: highs are around 22°C and lows about 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Zhangjiajie.

The city of Zhangjiajie has become particularly well known for its striking surrounding landscape.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Zhangjiajie Junsheng Painting Institute and Zhangjiajie Puguang Temple. Visiting Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area of Zhangjiajie and Zhangjiajie National Forest Park will get you outdoors. There's still lots to do: take in the awesome beauty at Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park and tour the pleasant surroundings at Tianzi Mountain.
