Founded in the 16th century, the small city of Ramallah has built a reputation as the "Cultural Capital of the West Bank," known for its open-minded religious attitude.
Appreciate the collections at Dar Zahran Heritage Building and Qumran National Park. Head to Blessings Gift Shop and The Olive Wood Factory and The Star Bazaar Gift Shopfor plenty of shopping. Venture out of the city with trips to Mount of Temptation Monastery (in Jericho) and Bethlehem (Church of the Nativity & Mar Saba Monastery). There's still lots to do: explore the fascinating underground world of Qumran Caves, examine the collection at Mahmoud Darwish Museum, get engrossed in the history at Yasser Arafat Museum, and don't miss a visit to Arafat's Tomb.
