Sheltered in an inlet of Lake Wakatipu, the resort town of Queenstown enjoys a strong reputation for its adventuring and skiing opportunities.
Take a break from the city and head to Kiwi Birdlife Park and Hollyford Track. Head to Alan Waters Art Gallery and Silver Fern Galleryfor some retail therapy. Change things up with a short trip to Fiordland National Park (Te Wahipounamu) in Te Anau (about 1h 15 min away). There's still lots to do: whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, head outdoors with Arrowtown Village, fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour, and do a tasting at Brennan Wines.
