With an illustrious history as a main stop along the Great Silk Road, Khiva boasts remarkably well-preserved cultural attractions and a beautiful historic core.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Pakhlavan Makhmud Mausoleum and Itchan Kala. Step off the beaten path and head to Kalta Minor Minaret and Stone Palace (Tash Khauli). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Tomb of Sayid Allauddin, explore the historical opulence of Citadel Kunya-ark, examine the collection at Shirgazi Khan Madrasah, and admire the striking features of Alla Kuki Khan Madrasah.

During the 18th and 19th centuries, Kokand stood as the capital of the Kokand khanate, developing into an important religious and educational center, with many mosques and madrassas.
On the 15th (Thu), admire the striking features of Norbut-Biya Madrasah, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Jami Mosque, then get engrossed in the history at Khudoyar Khan Palace, and finally admire the landmark architecture of Khan Palace.
