Despite its small size, Zell am See is a well-visited tourist destination known mostly as a ski resort town, and it serves as an important transportation hub for the region.
Step off the beaten path and head to Schmittenhohe and Kitzsteinhorn. Escape the urban bustle at Grossglockner High Alpine Road and Liechtensteinklamm. When in Zell am See, make a side trip to see Schloss Goldegg in Goldegg am See, approximately 46 minutes away. There's more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Zell.
