An ancient city from the Viking Age, today Roskilde welcomes a new crowd, especially as host of Roskilde Festival, a popular rock festival in Europe.
On the 13th (Fri), take in the architecture and atmosphere at Roskilde Domkirke, then take an in-depth tour of Viking Ship Museum, then get a new perspective on nature at Frederiksborg Castle, and finally get lost in a book at Roskilde Bibliotekerne. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: admire the masterpieces at Arken Museum of Modern Art, learn about all things military at Cold War Museum Stevnsfort, then examine the collection at Stevns Klint, and finally make a trip to Lille Tilde.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major airports are Copenhagen Kastrup Airport, Aarhus Airport and Billund Airport. Expect a daytime high around 65°F in September, and nighttime lows around 51°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
