More than 20 million people call Cairo their home and, as soon as you set foot in the sprawling metropolis, it's evident they make it crowded and chaotic, but also exuberant and charming.
Get some historical perspective at Pyramids of Giza and Mohamed Ali Mosque. Get a sense of the local culture at Egyptian Antiquities Museum and Old City (Coptic Cairo). Explore Cairo's surroundings by going to Giza (Khafre's Pyramid & Great Sphinx). Next up on the itinerary: take a stroll through Islamic Cairo, admire the striking features of Hanging Church (El Muallaqa, Sitt Mariam, St Mary), make a trip to Tahrir Square, and shop like a local with Khan Al-Khalili.

Hammamet, Tunisia to Cairo is an approximately 7-hour combination of bus and flight. You can also drive. The time zone difference moving from Central European Time (CET) to Eastern European Time (EET) is 1 hour. Expect a daytime high around 40°C in July, and nighttime lows around 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Abu Simbel.

While traveling from Abu Simbel, expect slightly colder days and about the same nights in Marsa Alam, ranging from highs of 41°C to lows of 33°C. On the 22nd (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Dahab.
