Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Take a break from the city and head to Nirai Beach and Okuma Beach. We've included these beaches for you: Kariyushi Beach and Emerald Beach. Change things up with a short trip to Tropical Beach in Ginowan (about 54 minutes away). The adventure continues: tour the pleasant surroundings at Manza Beach and don't miss a visit to Cape Manzamo.

Step out of the city life by going to Miyajima and Mikasahama Beach. Itsukushima Shrine and Hiroshima Castle will appeal to history buffs. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Get some cultural insight at Nara Park and Dotonbori. Your inner history buff will appreciate Nijo-jo Castle and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. When in Kyoto, make a side trip to see Todai-ji Temple in Nara, approximately 1h 05 min away. There's much more to do: wander the streets of Gion, take in the spiritual surroundings of Ryoanji Temple, get great views at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple.

You can take a train from Hiroshima to Kyoto in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of ferry, flight, and train. In August in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 39°C during the day and 29°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 13th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel back home.
