The capital and largest city of Serbia, cosmopolitan Belgrade sits on the confluence of the Sava and the Danube rivers.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Military Museum and Great War Island. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Belgrade: Viminacium Archaeological Park (in Kostolac), Smederevo Fortress (in Smederevo) and Special Nature Reserve Obedska Bara (in Sremska Mitrovica). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Saint Petka's Chapel, make a trip to Zemunski kej, steep yourself in history at Residence of Princess Ljubica (Konak Kneginje Ljubice, and admire the striking features of Cathedral Church.

Kotor, Montenegro to Belgrade is an approximately 2-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Kotor in August, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Belgrade: temperatures range from 34°C by day to 20°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Tue) to allow time to drive to Topola.
