Discover the rich history behind one of Geneva's most prominent churches at Archeological Site at St. Pierre's Cathedral. Construction works carried out in the 1980s accidently uncovered a plethora of ancient artifacts at this site, dating as far back as the Roman Empire. These have been carefully examined and curated to provide visitors with a remarkable insight into the city's history and the past of this important building. Witness remnants of the basilica that once stood here, including the Roman crypt, monk's cells, and allobrogian tomb. For a more in-depth tour, pick up one of the audio headsets at the cathedral's entrance. • From our point of view, if you do not pass through old Geneva, you will not have known Geneva. And so, St. Peter's is an obligatory passage. She's very pretty. No regrets. Not used to seeing colonnades as entrance but the interior is very pretty (Refreshing also in the middle of summer). We didn't go up to the terrace, so nothing to say except that there must be a very nice view.

  • The cathedral is beautiful, but the most worthwhile is the climb the towers, which offer a spectacular look of the whole city, in addition to the internal view of the bells and structures.

  • This is a very nice museum that will take you back in time before the reformation to the very first settlements in the city. Unfortunately it is easy to miss. The entrance is at the right side of St. Pierre's cathedral. The ticket is 8 francs. I spend there 1 1/2 hours. This museums will make you experience archeological work at first hand. Recommended!
  • It is archaeological site of St. Pierre Cathedral. Nice exhibits. This cathedral in Geneva was built as a Roman Catholic cathedral. It became a Reformed Protestant Church of Geneva church during the reformation. John Calvin's chair is one of the main attraction in the church.
