Garden Castle Must See
Peek into the intimate life of Swedish royalty at Sofiero Palace, one of the family's country mansions. Originally built in 1865, the home was expanded to its current size in 1876 when King Oscar II came into power. In 1905 the castle was given as a wedding gift to the king's grandson, future King Gustaf VI Adolf, who loved the castle so much he donated it to the general public upon his death. Take a guided tour or use an audio guide to explore the upstairs of the castle with rooms decorated in period furnishings, or stop by the lower level, which now houses a cafe. The castle is best-known for its stunning rhododendron gardens featuring 500 different species. Take a picnic on the sprawling lawns and soak in the greenery. • To say the least hilly garden with lots of different rhododendronbuskar and some large as trees. Views of the Öresund Strait and a lot of history.

  • Required a few hours but worth it, pre-buy online at major events. Historical environment, Nice green areas and flor after season. We end up here 3-4 times per year depending on the season and what is going on. Here you can enjoy the flowers, see a concert or theatre. You can take a picnic. There is "designer store", ice cream, coffee, café and garden shop.

  • Beautiful place but closed at 4 PM which is too early in spring/summer. Viewing everything under hard sunlight does not do this place justice.
  • Free admission when table reserved in restaurant. Which is really great!
