Friar's Bay, Saint-Martin

#6 of 8 in Beaches in Saint-Martin
Relax on Friar's Bay, a small St. Martin beach with calm, clear water. Also called "Cove of the Fathers," the beach remains generally tranquil, with most people visiting only on weekends. Sunbathe on the soft white sand and swim (or snorkel) in the water, where the gentle waves are suitable even for small children. Refresh in one of the beach bars lining the shore, rest in the shade of palm trees, or collect the numerous seashells scattered across the sand. • This is a very nice and calm beach on French St. Martin that has just about everything. White sand, no seaweed, mild waves, ample parking, and two very good beach bars/restaurants to choose from (Kali...  more »
  • Small outing with friends at 5. We take deckchairs with PEti at the top. The aperitif on the beach impeccable. Everything spoiled by passing at the table. Already impossible reserve "first come first served". Then we start eating while we receive the second aperitif at the same time as the dish. But the icing on cake the unintentable sound level. We can not talk so much is strong. We ask to go down and ask the boss. We finished the coffee and the bitin on the deckchairs because the meal was a ordeal. So bad because the setting is really nice but the attitude I don't care about the customer's opinion spoils everything.

  • This beach is OPEN! Just visited this beach. Yes, there is remaining storm damage, but it is still beautiful. We went March 2018 and found that we had a private beach day! There were two other families on the beach. The restaurant that sits on the beach is OPEN and ready to serve you. Go visit them and support them in their recovery! There are beach chairs for rent ($6 ea). The sand on the beach is still being replenished so it's not perfectly even terrain but that was OK by us. There are some rocks on the beach. Again, we were not bothered by this as we all always wear water shoes. The water was FABULOUS; very clean, very clear, and refreshing. There was a sandbar with a 6-8in drop with lots of little shells, but beyond the drop the bottom of the bay was perfectly smooth, flat and shell/rock free. The exception to this was if you swam far out with a snorkel there were large beautiful conch shells. The water itself was calm once you got past the sandbar. This was perfect for me as I was on crutches and basically could only float.
  • Amazing beach, very pleasant people and food to remember . I had smile on my face all day.
