Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Andalucia / Province of Malaga / Costa del Sol / Ronda / Casa Del Rey Moro
Although Casa Del Rey Moro claims to have once been the home of a Moorish king, in reality the house wasn't built until the 18th century, and the "Moorish" garden wasn't installed until 1912. However, the water mine (steps leading to a well) is a relic dating back to the Moorish period. The entry to the well is in the gardens. The steps get slippery and narrow in places, so use caution when descending into the rooms below. When in the well, or the "Room of Secrets," stand against one wall and ask a fellow guest to stand against the opposite wall, then ask another to stand in the center of the room. Whisper a secret message while you are standing against the wall, then listen to the response from the person opposite you. You'll hear each other, but the guest in the center of the room won't hear a thing. Make Casa Del Rey Moro part of your personalized Ronda itinerary using our Ronda trip maker tool .

Casa Del Rey Moro Reviews
A beautiful garden and an historically fascinating building with a ‘water mine’, where Christian slaves had to man a water wheel and carry water skins up the 200 steps to the floor level. Worth it for... more »
La visita está bien, los jardines son muy bonitos y la parte que baja hasta el río es muy interesante, es una pena que la casa parece que se está cayendo porque sería preciosa verla por dentro. more »The visit is ok, the gardens are very nice and the part that goes down to the river is very interesting, it is a shame that the house looks like it is falling down because it would be beautiful to see it inside.
The place is absolutely fantastic ! Have some of the most beautiful photos I made in Ronda- thaw you need to be sporty to go down and up the stairs till the blue hole and back. There is no elevator / escalator so people with disabilities and small kids can’t really do it. There is about 350 stairs to go down / climb back up but keep in mind they are all of different size and shape:) The thing is really sad is the fact that the palace itself is falling apart and it seems there is no intention of rebuilding it... it’s sad to see such a treasure being lost....
Interesting place with a hell of a lot of stair climbing.
