Sotavento Beach, Costa Calma
Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Canary Islands / Fuerteventura / Jandia Peninsula / Pajara / Costa Calma / Sotavento Beach
Steady winds attract kite surfers and windsurfers to the wide stretch of golden sand at Sotavento Beach. The winds blow strongly enough to deter many beachgoers looking for a relaxing afternoon though small dunes covered in vegetation do provide shelter. The 5-km (3.1-mi) beach has two sections, Playa Risco del Paso and Playa Barca, though there is no major difference between them. Nudists do frequent these beaches, mostly to the far ends of the sand. Sotavento Beach Reviews
Sicuramente per gli appassionati di kite surf è un paradiso, ma avendo attraversato tutta l'isola per vederla, mi sono reso conto che non ne valeva la pena. Rushing wind, sand in the eyes, impossible to sit to admire the landscape because of the sand wet by the tide. To be honest the scenery and the colors of the sea are fantastic, but almost two hours drive to reach this beach are too many!!
At the beginning of the Melia hotels The beach is at its widest. There it is also not really nice sunbathing by the many surfers. And also because of the hard wind you will be sandblasted. After a bit the beach becomes narrower and there are also stone-made index fingers where you have less trouble with the wind... You can go all the way to Morro Jable which takes about 5 hours to complete. Water is really beautiful in terms of colour and it looks like you are on a Caribbean beach. Also very nice to see that at certain times the water gets very high. The fish then literally swim at your feet. Here and there you will also find a beach bar. Do pay attention where you neerploft some are extremely expensive. Also sunbeds and parasols to rent about 8 euros for one day. We found this the most beautiful beach of Fuerteventura.
