  • It is an archaeological site 7 km from the city. Unfortunately the central premises were not open to visitors. Beautiful reception system, museum and interactive part. The site itself presents an architectural system - for what is left - and interesting viair configuration.

  • Rather underwhelming really. The layout is a modern museum and visitor center about a kilometer from the actual site. This is laid out well and will be interesting if you're into the history of Islamic Spain. The visitor centre is free to enter and you get a ticket you need to buy a shuttle bus pass (2.50 return) up the the historical site. You then need the ticket to enter the site. There is little guidance around the site and most of it appears to be reconstructed rather than original. The reconstructions, with the exception of the main buildings which have been reconstructed really well, mostly consist of raising the walls higher than the actual ruins. Makes the whole thing feel a little false when you realise most of it modern concrete. There is little actually filling out the ruins to make them interesting, just pretty characterless walls. The big exception is a couple of complexes which have been heavily rebuilt. They are essentially a complete reconstruction as little appears original but they are impressive.
  • The Medina was well worth the trip out of the city. The ruins are incredible. Be aware that if you aren't in Cordoba by 10:30 you will have to take a taxi to the Medina (30-40 euros round trip)
