The way to get there is absolutely feasible with a "normal" car, you just have to allow some time. In the reserve itself you don't drive fast anyway, as there is a lot to see: Buntbocks, ostrich, birds and even dolphins on the coast. We parked in Koppie Allen and took a little hike on the beach-breathtaking views! The restaurant in De Hoop is good and recommended.
A very nice hidden gem. Its about 3.5 hours away from Cape Town, and the last 70km is gravel. Its well worth a visit, if you stay in the area. The nature setting is spectacular, and they have a number of animals, with bontebok worth mentioning here. Also the bird life is prolific and wale sightings common, provided you go there in wale season. The have a decent restaurant too and offer a range of accommodation from camping to luxury chalets. There is also a beach where swimming is possible.
Action needs to take place. Hikers should consider to pick up litter which washes out from the sea. Absolutely beautiful reserve. Peaceful and untouched beauty.
