Museum of Yugoslavia, Belgrade
Featuring historical data and rich collections of artifacts, Museum of Yugoslavia attempts to present the culture, politics, and lifestyle of the Yugoslav peoples from the 19th century to the present. Founded in 1996, the museum followed the creation of the Tito Memorial Centre and the Museum of the Revolution of Yugoslav Nations and Ethnic Minorities. Occupying 5253 sq m (56543 sq ft), it features items mostly related to the former president Tito, as well as numerous ethnographic objects of the region. You can also visit exhibits of international ethnography here, which cover a wide range of topics, including the music and instruments of Indonesia, weapons from Africa, and clothes from all over the world. It is all about Tito and the Yugoslavia era. It is the perfect stroll through those years. Titos's collection of incredible gifts and batons need to be seen. You are not going to find a balanced or broader historical account. Still, you cannot understand Serbia w/o understanding this era.
Interesting. But really a glorified mausoleum. If like me you find this kind of morbid. Skip it, had I known what it was before my tour I would have done the same. The gardens are very pretty and the architecture is quite nice though.
