Visit Al Masmak Fortress, a 19th-century fort, known for being the place where Ibn Saud, the founder of Saudi Arabia, reconquered Riyadh in 1902. The historic fortification was built out of clay and brick in 1865, and today houses a museum, a part of the King Abdulaziz Historical Center. Take a tour of the building, restored in the 1980s, and admire a collection of traditional costumes and relics. Keep your eyes peeled for part of a spear that was thrown during the raid and remains lodged in the gate today. This looks really good in night time dont visit in day time because it gets really hot there. The place is really neat and clean and every thing is well managed. In front of this museum there is huge empty place to sit and chill. Rocks around this also shaped for siting. There is also two or there cafe around this place. Its looks amazing in night time with its yellow lights
It's a beautiful fort converted into a museum which tells the story of Al-Masmak and the recapture of Riyadh by the King Abd Al Aziz. There are various sections in the museum including a visual room. Going on first floor is not allowed. Administrative Staff is very friendly there. A souvenir shop is there as well. Parking is at waking distance for 3 riyal per hour. Entry and photography is free. Must visit for history lovers.
