3.8
#1 of 6 in Parks in Vyborg
Stroll through Monrepos Park, Historical, Architectural and Natural Museum Preserve to experience undisturbed views of nature. Covering about 180 hectares (440 acres), the park also contains historical buildings. Visit the 19th-century manor, with a main house and a library house. While some of the park's historical features have been destroyed over the years, the staff works hard to preserve and restore important buildings, such as the Temple of Neptune, which was destroyed by arson. Monrepos Park, Historical, Architectural and Natural Museum Preserve is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Vyborg Edition.

  • Monrepo Park is primarily a monument to the greatness of nature, despite human ugliness. Huge boulders that remember the Ice Age, Love Island and Death Island, from people - what did for the park the last owners of the family of Nicholas. All that was seen after that - paid entry, apparently, so that the employees of the state, which it swelled itself, received a salary. In 2018 - a pogrom full. Workers with wheelbarrows, from the main entrance it is better to go in rubber boots. No, Monrepo is beautiful if you don't look under your feet. Reconstruction - a noble cause, but it is not clear for what took the money for the entrance that before, that now.

  • Nature, of course, is difficult to spoil. Here it is in the park is beautiful: megaliths, mossy boulders, small overgrown trees, ferns and shrubs, tall coniferous trees, rocks and embankment. But due to the reconstruction, many areas are blocked, the paths are excavated. Toilet... I haven't seen such abominations in a long time. There are almost no benches, walking is problematic. At the same time, you charge 100 p. In the near future I do not recommend to visit, and when the reconstruction is over, perhaps it is worth a visit.
