#2 of 192 in Parks in Moscow
For panoramic views over Moscow, head to Sparrow Hills (Vorobyovy Gory), the highest point in the city. Located on the right bank of the Moscow River, this hill rises to about 220 m (720 ft) above river level and features a large observation platform. Named after a nearby village, the tree-covered hill has provided inspiration for generations of Russian poets, painters, and architects. Today, the lookout draws both foreign visitors and local picnickers, who come here to take photographs with the entire city as their backdrop. Visit on a clear day and try to spot the domes of some of the city's famous churches, or climb the hill at night to see Moscow lit up by streetlights. • The most famous observation platform in the capital was opened in 1953 together with the new building of MSU. From the 80-metre height here-"open" views of the Moscow River, stadium "Luzhniki", skyscrapers, Stalin's skyscrapers, TV Tower, monument to Peter I, Bell tower and the Kremlin towers. For visitors there are free binoculars with a powerful zoom. The tallest museum in Europe, the only museum of skyscrapers in Russia-the Museum of the lookout Moscow city with panoramic windows at the height of a bird's flight-215 meters above Moscow. Other viewing platforms are located on two levels of Ostankino TV Tower-they are recognized as the best opportunity to instantly glance all sights of the main city of Russia from a height of 340 meters without additional optics! • First of all you should walk through the Moscow Government University which is a site to be hold. Then if it is a sunny day like we had you can enjoy a lovely walk through the tidy wood alleys leading from the university to the Sparrow hills which is basically a place where all sorts of people gather to have an over view of the city of Moscow, it is worth mentioning that a view binoculars are located there to have a closer look at the beautiful buildings throughout the city. I highly recommend to look for the other 6 Stalin's era buildings that look similar at the first glance to the university
  • The view is wonderful. You can see all the city. The university at the back is astonishing. You can walk then down to the park to reach the metro station.
