Located at the heart of Moscow, Red Square (Krasnaya Ploshchad) offers easy access to most of the city's major attractions. Surrounded by landmark buildings representative of Moscow's rich architectural heritage, the vast square is the first destination for most visitors to the city. Its name comes not from the color of the cobbles or its link to communist history, but from one interpretation of the Russian word "krasniy," meaning "beautiful." Most of the city's major streets originate from this square, but the majority of tourists come to this World Heritage Site to take pictures and visit the surrounding buildings, including a mausoleum housing the embalmed body of Vladimir Lenin. Use Inspirock's suggestions to plan your Moscow trip and find the best activities and attractions for your vacation.

  • The central square of Moscow, who walks in Moscow, will surely go here. Of course its history stretches into the far past. THE XV. In addition to the existing Kremlin wall of the century, there were wooden houses, which was destroyed by the czar due to the constant fire hazard. Thus, there was a permanent trade fair in the established place. The name of the space refers not only to the red color of the Kremlin on one side, but also to the beautiful flag of the same capital. (Krasivij-Beautiful, Krasnyy-red, red). The square has always won its present form, and the GUM and the Historical Museum were built at the end of the XIX century. Perhaps one of the oldest construction site in the square of Lenin's mausoleum construction was the first temporary wooden mausoleum to replace 1930 in the present day, also seen in the mausoleum. Today, as the site of the processions, the soldiers started to go to the front in 1941, here was the victory parade in 1945, but, for example, today is a spectacular military festival.

  • Fairytale comes true on this Earth. Lovely ambience. Happy place. Food available. Toilet available. Please do not click photographs with fake fraud Police. They will ask for 1000 russian ruble. They will insist and might snatch your currency from your purse. Your mood will go for a toss and may end up with fear psychosis. Watch out and be safe. Normal taxis are very expensive. Try to use app cab to be safe on explosive cab rates.
  • Super excited to visit such a historic location. Security is full on so be prepared. Once in though very free to move around. Lenin's tomb is a bit surreal. St Basil's cathedral with it's onion spires is beautiful.
