Stretching across the Tagus River, Vasco da Gama Bridge represents the longest bridge in Europe. Armando Rito designed this cable-style bridge to relieve traffic in Lisbon and transport visitors from other parts of Europe to Expo 98, which was held in Parque das Nacoes. Construction began in 1995 on the bridge--which is 17km (11 mi) long, much of which is above water, and contains six road lanes--and was completed by 1998. Drive across this bridge, named for famed explorer Vasco da Gama, or view its massive size from a park bench on either side of the river. • LISBA today is a major international business, tourist and employment center. Dynamic, cultured and demanding population, where the various means of transport interact and take thousands of people to their goals. This bridge is a landmark of engineering and the moment lived by this beautiful nation!

  • One of the most important engineering infrastructures if Western Europe. A beautiful and peaceful engineering artwork fully integrated into Lisbon's ocean bay. An artery of Lisbon's road communication system and very functional saving hours in traffic
  • Beautiful bridge. Great views and great tarmac.
