The city's historical central plaza, Stary Rynek is home to an array of colorful and interesting buildings. Established in the 11th century, it has undergone numerous transformations, including severe damage during World War II. Its reconstruction was rapid and successful, and today the large square boasts a number of fashionable bars, cafes, restaurants, and stores. Some of its most striking buildings include the Renaissance-style old town hall, weighing house, arsenal gallery, guardhouse, and the row of 16th century merchants' houses. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a Polish beer and plateful of pierogi (Polish dumplings) on one of the bustling terraces. Stary Rynek Reviews
Poznań naprawdę może poszczycić się pięknym rynkie. Malownicze kamienice robią ogromne wrażenie. O 12 warto przystanac przy ratuszu i zobaczyć dwa wojujace koziolki. more »Poznań can really boast a beautiful market. Scenic townhouses make a huge impression. About 12 stop at the town hall and see the two Warriors of war.
Vi besøgte Poznan en maj weekend, og nød flere gode drinks mad på torvet på forskellige restauranter. Super hyggeligt med udeservering, masser af gasvarmere og liv på pladsen more »We visited Poznan a May weekend, and enjoyed several good drinks at the market square at various restaurants. Super cozy with outdoor seating, lots of gas heaters and life on site
Definitely THE place to visit when in Poznan, the Old Market Square still houses a market every Sunday (the day I was there). Lots of locals out for a stroll, or for sitting down at one of the many terraces. The architectural jewel is the city hall, built in the Renaissance style by an Italian architect. All the buildings bordering the square are nicely renovated, colorful and pretty.
A remarkable square with lots to offer in terms of it's museum, multiple bars and restaurants as well as street performers. Colourful , clean and well laid-out it's a must visit if in the area
