Europejskie Centrum SolidarnoSci, Gdansk

4.7
#1 of 24 in Museums in Gdansk
Celebrating the bravery of the Polish solidarity movement, Europejskie Centrum SolidarnoSci includes exhibition halls, a theater, and impressive architecture. Reopened in 2014, the attraction's building is as much a reason to visit as the engaging exhibits. Designed to resemble a ship's hull, the structure pays tribute to its location in the shipyards. Inside the "ship's hull," historical exhibits tell the story of Poland's fight against Russia through videos, audio recordings, and documents accompanied by visuals and interactive displays. Visit the attraction's website for a calendar of upcoming events and to purchase tickets in advance. • Where it all started. Not only in Polish history but in that of the whole of Europe. The Gdansk shipyards are the place where the protests and demands for freedom of the workers began, beginning the Solidarity movement. This huge museum details the years that changed the world, causing almost all soviet bloc regimes to fall into chains. Interesting and instructive at low prices

  • Interesting city with a mixture of old and new that gives a sense of the history of Poland. Nice tall churches and the building.

  • ☝️This is beat place free to visit. The view, the history around, the cabinet of the Polish president. 👤 👁Also huge library and great interesting description of Polish after WW2 years up to now! 📚 Definitely wort to go! You will be amazed. ❣️ 👨‍💼(We had a tourist guide Michel from the red bus to explain everything. Definitely good idea.)
  • Forget the WW2 museum, this is the place to visit when in Gdansk to get a real feel for Polish modern history. Take your time (2 hours minimum) and learn the story of the Solidarity movement from its tense beginnings to the modern day. Buy tickets online 24 hours in advance if you can as the queues can be exhausting. Once you are inside the crowds are not noticeable.
