Island Hopping in the Philippines Reviews
We booked a private tour for 2 people to pick us up from our small ship to take us to the best sights in the area: Kayangan Lake, Siete Pecados, Malawey Coral Gardens and Twin Lagoons, etc. We left it... more »
Vorab, wir leben auf einer schoenen Insel in Thailand. Es kann sein, dass wir verwoeht sind und den Blick nicht mehr haben. Unsere Eindrucke gehen daher von den Gegebenheiten in Thailand aus. Our Impressions therefore start from the Circumstances in Thailand. We joined on a Coron Island tour on Busuanga/Coron City. The Provider was Becool Travel and Tours. We had booked a very good Hotel outside (Riverhouse and Busuanga Island Paradises) and from the River house about 45 Minutes to Go by Scooter to Coron. We had chosen the Provider because in one Day he approached 8 different Points of the Tour. Since we hadn't found the Buero in town, we reserved by phone and we were supposed to be at the Port At the meeting Point at 8 o 'clock. Then we were at 8 o 'clock (after 45 minutes Drive) and no one was there. We called again and were then picked up by a Tricycle and dumped a few hundred Metres at the Pier at a lady with a List. There we waited again for about an Hour until the other Participants were together. Then again almost an Hour until the Officials had signed off our Lists and collected their Money. So stand around stupidly for over 2 Hours and get up at 6 o 'clock in the morning!!! THANK YOU:-( Of Course, you can avoid this by renting a private Boat the Day before, giving the Name and then making the Fee Pay frueh in the morning. You have to buy food and Drinks yourself and it is MORE expensive for WESENTLICH. ... But this all helps if you, like thousands of other Boats, do the same Destinations opposite Coron City. It was crowded (January). We were first at Kayangan Lake (without a Life jacket no Swimming) and there was an endless Queue moving down the Stairs and back. Massily Boats were already standing At each subsequent Destination. The Nature Experience Could not be enjoyed at all, as engines were constantly running, loud and ruthless tour Groups (mainly Chinese) were everywhere, at every Lookout you had to queue to take Pictures. At the best Places was drone flight ban, even further away from the Boat even went nix (Jammer?) For Us it was interesting that Nature in the Philippines is often very different from that of us in Thailand. Especially very very clean. There are still real mangrove waelders. Yes and therefore at Least on Busuanga little Beaches. We really had Glueck, which we had taken Water from the Property. There was only for Lunch (which was good and rich) for everyone a small Bottle of Water. Although we had asked the tour lady if there are enough Drinks on the Boat! So it went from one Point on the List to another ... All close together and how you can share this Tour (other Providers) ... What should you do in time? Overall, nature is super beautiful! It was nice to see that the Plastic Mule of everywhere in Thailand on the Beach is probably not washed up in the Philippines. In the Water as well as on the Island it was super super clean!! For Someone who has already come around a lot, the Tour is "nice" and ok for 1200 peso per Person. We had Luck that our Boat wasn't fully booked. On other Boats, People are sitting close to close (with dressed Life Jackets) as if in the Battery. Lunch was served in a Huette in the Water, near Skeleton Wrek, so you didn't have to eat on the Boat. But Was Cooked on the Banka (Boat). It Was tight from time to time, if you had to climb over several Bankas in order to get, for example, to the Jetty from Kayangan Lake or to the Beach. If you have Disabilities or Crevings in the Movement, you should consider whether the Tour is worth it ... It is clear that Cruising ships is something. Take with you, Ear Stoepsel, gently own Drinks and Sunscreen!
i just gave a blind call and tried to find how would i spend my half a day in coron. The staff was very friendly and gave me clear instructions starting from getting out of the airport to how to bargain with the boatman lol. many thanks!!!
It was scary to book a 5 day trip with no places to stay confirmed or a strong itinerary. And in the Philippines, communication is difficult. But that is part of changing mindsets to a rural island mindset. In the end, everything worked out. We had some tough moments with bugs. But we also had some amazingly beautiful secluded beaches, the best snorkeling in the world, relaxing on the beach, and freshly made food on the boat while docked at beautiful places (better than being on land). Note, we went with Benji. Recommendations: - you must get a local SIM when you arrive to make sure pickup and everything works out - some islands have bugs - use bug spray! Pros: - a fraction of the cost - away from the crowds - can customize what you want - just ask! - a truly local experience - saw a REAL rural town Cons: - locals aren't really polished tour guides - if you don't ask for it, you won't get it, need to be pretty proactive - pretty simple "activities" - no frills like bathrooms or kayaks etc.
