  • Monument to the leaders of the DPRK on Mansudihill. You will be brought here if you answer the question in the affirmative whether you are ready to worship the statues of the chiefs. Apparently, there are some principled non-bowing tourists, but it's definitely not us. So we bought a bouquet with a flower Kimirsenhva (or Kimchenirkhva - I repent, I confuse them) for a few euros and went to lay it and bow. Originally, there was only a 22-meter-high statue of Kim Il Sung erected in 1972 to mark his 60th birthday. After The Death of Kim Jong Il, the citizens of the DPRK raised money to install him the same monument. Both bronze statues are huge and very, very cool. When photographing, you can not trim their hands and feet, it is warned separately. And in general warn that the place is sacred, fun is inappropriate. Nearby there was a wedding, the guide asked if we wanted to take a picture with her. Of course we do! The bride and groom were immediately yanked into the company of foreigners. In the DPRK, everything is simple...

  • These are the biggest statues that I have ever seen. We came here as part of our DPRK tour and it is a really interesting place to visit. When you arrive in the car park, you can use a public toilet. It is acceptable. When you go up to the monument, you will see a lot of wedding parties making the journey. It is customary for all wedding parties to make this stop first, to visit the statues. You will see the wedding parties all dressed in the finest clothes and looking like they are really happy. It was a privilege to be able to mingle in the crowds and sometimes to join in the wedding party photos. The statues are huge. Quite breath taking. Our guide explained that they are 20m high and made of solid bronze. I really like visiting here. It is in a beautiful location too.
  • Awesome, the essence of DPRK in one place. Huge statues of thebleaders, people bowing to them, plastic flowers you can buy to put in front of them and a stunning view of Pyongyang
