Hio Beach, Tuapa

5.0
#6 of 12 in Parks in Niue
Reached by climbing down a wooden staircase and protected by towering rocky cliffs, Hio Beach provides a sheltered spot for beachgoers. Spread out on the white sand or in the shallow waters, or snorkel around sandy secluded coves. When the tide is low, the spot serves as a good place to hike along the reef to see colorful fish in rock pools, or to have a picnic. A visit to Hio Beach represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Tuapa sightseeing app to plot your vacation.

  • The beach appears in a low tide but if you catch it a couple of hours either side of the tide, you get a decent swim as well. We renamed it Butterfly Cove due to the huge number of them flying around....  more »
  • Hio Beach is one of very few sandy beaches on Niue. We went swimming here recently and thought it a lovely spot. Quite an easy access , also very handy to the great Hio Cafe!  more »

  • Sneak past the café's messy back work area... Head down the sea track to the cute little sandy beach on the reef. Explore the reef at low tide but be careful of the rip if you go out off the reef.
