Formed by a river flowing from the High Atlas, Draa Valley features a scenic landscape of sandy dunes, palm groves, and flowering oases. Stretching over a desert limestone plateau, this fertile valley--once known as the Valley of Olives--has been inhabited since prehistoric times. As you look for watchtowers and forts once used for defensive purposes, imagine how desert caravans--carrying Saharan gold, salt, and spices--passed through the valley on their way to some distant destination. The valley still hosts a regional souk and a variety of traditional festivals. Draa Valley Reviews
Una sosta per ammirare il panorama in questa splendida vallata è d'obbligo, per il contrasto magnifico tra distese di palmeti verdeggianti e le pareti rocciose e brulle. Tappa imperdibile more »A stop to admire the view in this beautiful valley is a must, for the magnificent contrast between expanses of verdant palm groves and the rocky and barren walls. Unmissable stage
Lasciandoci Ouarzazate alle spalle ci siamo diretti verso Zagora, l’inizio della strada è un continuo di terreno desertico poco degno di nota, ma quando ci si inizia ad arrampicare sulla montagna tutt... more »Leaving Ouarzazate behind we headed towards Zagora, the beginning of the road is a continuous desert terrain not noteworthy, but when you start to climb the mountain everything changes, you pass in the middle of mountains that seem drawn by the wind then you can see in the distance expanses of green palm groves surrounding local villages and kosbehs of a bygone time (but not too many are inhabited). The further you go to Zagara the more it seems to go back in time with these villages made of mud and straw. My advice is in addition to visiting the most famous kasbeh that you will find written here and there in the various sites, find a place to stop the car and enter the palm groves, it will be a beautiful experience to remember.
