See what once was the political, cultural, and administrative center of the Lithuanian empire at Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. It housed the royalty of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, including Grand Duke Alexander of Lithuania, who later became the King of Poland, and Sigismund I the Old and his heirs. The palace was almost completely destroyed in 1801 after the fall of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, but was fully restored and modernized by the government in 2002. Explore the National Museum located inside, displaying historical artifacts and art from across Eastern Europe. Tours will lead you through the architectural development of the palace, the remaining ancient ruins, the Treasury Hall, and the Ceremonial Halls. • A must see with the Cathedral and the Crypts to understand the history of this country. Add the virtual film (payant2 €) but great on the place where we are. And expect at least 2 hours for the Palace if not more. Alas nothing in French...

  • The first visit to the Baltic Kingdom and Helsinki by using GW is located on the south side of Vilnius Lithuania. The hotel was located on the southwest side of the old Town for 2 nights, but it was surprisingly close to the "cathedral" in the north, and I visited many times during my stay ("The plate of Miracles" was not easily found). The next door is "royal palace", but the reputation in the review is not good very much. But, because the price is inexpensive, I tried to enter. I have also contributed to the building that has been reproduced, but I wonder if it is still impressive. It becomes a museum, and it is not very interesting even if I see the basic part (wry smile). Personally, I've always been happy to visit the Royal Palace in Europe, but this one was subtle. The appearance of the flower is pretty.
