The National Jewelry Treasury, Tehran
Immerse yourself in the world of luxury and splendor at The National Jewelry Treasury, which holds one of the finest collections of jewelry once worn and used by members of Persian royal dynasties. Don't miss the highlights of the collection: the largest uncut pink diamond in the world, the Peacock Throne, and the 1869 globe fully encrusted with precious stones--emeralds for the oceans, rubies for the land, and diamonds for the countries of Iran, Great Britain, and France. Most of the pieces in the collection changed hands many times since the 16th century when Safavid Shahs scavenged Europe, Middle East, and India looking for these exquisite gems. Although diminished from what it once was, the current collection is still so vast and valuable that it serves as a reserve for the Iranian currency, the rial. There are not many English descriptions here, so consider taking a guided tour or buying a guidebook at the museum's store. On of the best Jewelry museum in the world. They have strong security because you are going to bank safe deposit. You can see very old and beautiful jewelries in this museum. They have local guide to explain eveeh thing to you. Because it is in the bank , you can visit special time. Before going please check open time. Recommended to visit.
Lovely. A place for those who love history and like beaty. A must have seen museum! At the entrance you have to leave smartphone and camera behind in cabinets, so you can't take any pictures. And I don't have any photo. The opening time was around 14 and they close pretty quickly( Around 16 to 17). But you still have more than enough time to explore the area. It's a bunker underground that is guarded strongly. Through stairs you reach the museum itself. There are few people there working as narrator. Very informed indeed, some are proficient in other languages and help tourists coming from abroad. One such narrator briefly described each important jewelry and mentioned the story behind some of the more precious artworks. I highly recommend visiting this museum of masterpiece jewelry. It takes a couple of hours only and totally worth the time.
