Yaxha National Park, Peten

The third-largest ruins in Guatemala, Yaxha National Park, takes its visitors back to the classical period in the Americas via an ancient Mayan city. Walk the ruins to view more than 500 structures of Mayan origin. The jungle has permeated the city, leading animals to share the area with tourists--be prepared to encounter monkeys and tropical birds. As you explore, you'll observe over 40 Mayan stelae, a kind of sculpture and monument, spread throughout the city. After working up an appetite, head to the restaurant at the entrance of the park. • Yaxha well but much less spectacular than Taikal; Topoxte is on an island and you have to arrive by boat; It is small what it has of particular is that a woman reigned and they found a treasure of Jade Today they have robbed us; The guide charged US 400 Q for a tour that is less than Tikal and paid 350 Although we tipped the guide; Then the boat trip back and forth is not more than 20 minutes to Toxopte and we were charged 300. I Hear the guide pays Roland a chauffeur's commission. • Yaxha is a lot smaller than Tikal, but still very much worth visiting. You spend more time in the jungle, walking through the unexcavated parts of the town to see the excavated areas. The sunset from the large temple is amazing, listening peacefully as the birds and animals come awake around you.
  • Wow!!! A must see when in the area! Beautiful jungle! Abundant wildlife! We saw many many monkeys! Several temples and other types of ruins, all of which can be explored. Rich Mayan history. We are excited to return again! No drones, they fine big time!
