  • Interesting, lovely little monastery. Very peaceful and beautiful. Lovely big friendly dog will show you around.  more »
  • The monastery is located about 12 km from Rethymno and dates from the period bysantine. The door is closed and ring so that a monk comes to open the door. You can see the outside of a church in dome shape at the first level as well as the monks housing. The Church on the ground floor (ground floor) is closed and cannot be visited. You should know that the monastery of Arsani suffered his own Holocaust during the Cretan revolution. In 1941 the Germans killed the monk Damianos Kallergis, because this one was for the guerrillas. We can see the cemetery as well as a magnificent view of olive tree plantations it was renovated in 1970 and I would have liked to see the murals but this was not possible. During my visit, there was only one monk. In conclusion, it is a responsible monastery of history and the place of meditation is necessary.

  • The Arsaniou Monastery in Rethymno prefecture is located near Pangalochori, 11 kilometers east of Rethymno, so you can easily arrive there by car. Very nice and peaceful men's monastery, with beautifully decorated walls and ceilings. Worth seeing!
  • We went to light a candle in remembrance of the wife's mother. It's a very beautiful place,so peaceful. It was a very moving experience.
