Kato Zakros Beach Reviews
После посещения минойского дворца пообедали в таверне Nostos. К сожалению, все лежаки, принадлежащие таверне, были заняты, поэтому мы просто искупались и поехали дальше. Пляж не произвёл впечатления. ... more »After visiting the Minoan palace, they had lunch at the Nostos Tavern. Unfortunately, all the sunbeds belonging to the tavern were occupied, so we just took a dip and drove on. The beach didn't make an impression. So basically we were not upset that we could not hang on it for a couple of hours, and went to Vai, where we liked much more. The advantages of the beach in the sacros: 1) there is a shower and a changing room; 2) Few people, however, umbrellas and sunbeds are also few; 3) No waves; 4) warm sea (on different beaches very different water temperature). Cons: 1) bad going into the sea - stones (we went near the shower with the locker room); 2) muddy water; 3) It was very windy and the spray was badly beaten in the face.
Ideal for couples seeking tranquility in the shade from the tamarisk trees.
I shall never forget this place on Earth. I'd driven until I could not drive anymore, up from Matala and her leper caves and Joni Mitchell tales, up along the coast, up through Vai, and seemingly, the road unspooled over a mountain pass and descended into this tiny thatch of small buildings that were more California surf bungalows than Grecian structures. And so I stayed, exhausted and slept the sleep of the dead. Not far from the Gorge of the Dead. Three days and nights passed, as cats luxuriated around the sleepy town that time forgot. As the waves gently lapped over the stones of the beach, providing its own siren song. And the Ratki flowed and the time stood still and I greeted every new dawn, photographing a sun that seemed brighter, warmer, more inviting than the sun I'd left behind in New Jersey. But after I slept through a 6.7 Richter Scale Earthquake, I began to question my sanity. One good shake and one misfallen boulder sealing off the only road in and out and I'd be eating cats along with the other trapped pleasure zombies. It's a thin line between bliss and paralysis. The beach bugs making a pin cushion out of me drove me to my laptop. I wanted the antithesis. The opposite. Splendor over simplicity, luxury over Spartan surrounding, a place for the jet set. And so I drove from my dream of three days to Elounda Bay.....
Too touristic. Parking is a laugh
