Trip Planner: Europe / Germany / Bavaria / Franconia / Middle Franconia / Nuremberg / Germanisches Nationalmuseum
Germanisches Nationalmuseum-- Germany's largest museum of cultural history--houses an enormous collection of German cultural and art objects from prehistoric times to present day. Some highlights include the Cloth of St. Gereon, the oldest European tapestry still existing, plus portraits and paintings by Albrecht Dürer and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Most displays contain text only in German, and the layout can be a little confusing. Regardless, the quantity and quality of the collection makes this worth a stop. With our world travel planner, Nuremberg attractions like Germanisches Nationalmuseum can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Germanisches Nationalmuseum Reviews
Bellissimo museo situato nelle vicinanze del centro storico, offre al visitatore la possibilità di spaziare dalla pittura alla scultura, dalla raccolta di strumenti musicali alla raccolta di strumenti... more »A beautiful museum located near the old town, it offers visitors the opportunity to range from painting to sculpture, from the collection of musical instruments to the collection of scientific instruments. It embraces a huge time span from the Iron Age, passing through objects from the Roman era, longobarda until you get to works of the twentieth century. The timetables and costs are re-established on the site. On Wednesdays it opens open open until 9pm and from 6pm admission is free. It took us about 2 hours to visit it.
more »There are many museums in Nuremberg, but if you choose one, this is the German museum. The exhibits, including the town's painters, Dürer's paintings, and the oldest globes and musical instruments in the world, are worth a look. You should not be able to see it in half a day.
Take tons of time! Such a beautiful museum with tons to see. For young children (10 or under) the toy museum is a must see. They have free tours every two hours to show the highlights of the museum as well. Highly recommend. I feel like you would need a week to see everything!
What a rich and diverse collection of antiques!! The jewelry from back then is so extensively laid out 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 The fabric industry produced such quality clothes.. What a wonderful surprise !! The paintings, sculptures, clothes, music instruments from back then... It just took me through a journey to some other place... I would visit this place again.... 😅 Highly recommended to museum lovers.
