As one of the three major museums in Cologne, Wallraf-Richartz Museum contains a gallery with fine art representing the medieval period to early 20th century. The museum's collection began to come together in 1824, although it didn't move to its current location until 2001. In that year, it also gained a comprehensive collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works on permanent loan from Gérard Corboud. Consider getting a Museum Card, which allows access to this and many other museums in the city. Wallraf-Richartz Museum offers in-depth coverage of European art from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. If you are interested in arts, this should be a nice place for spending at least an hour. more »
Beautiful museum that, for a low cost, you can spend as much or as little time as you'd like admiring phenomenal pictures of art from several different centuries. There is something awe-inspiring seeing the detail and reading about the dedication each artist had creating their pieces
We saw the exhibit on American art. Really good with lots of famous paintings. Really had no time to see the rest of the museum. Would like to go back again and see the works by Rembrandt, Monet, etc. One could spend many hours there to take it all in. A bit expensive.
