The largest Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe, Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali) stands as a symbol of Russian influence in Finland's history. Designed by architect Aleksey Gornostayev during Russian rule of the region in the 19th century, this Eastern Orthodox church was completed in 1868. Visit the popular Helsinki landmark, note its traditional Russian design, and then enjoy the view of the city from this scenic hilltop. Take time to inspect the structure's ornate interior, domed ceilings, and crypt chapel, as well as several historically and artistically important icons, including St. Nicolas the Wonder Maker and Theotokos of Kozeltshan. • One of Helsinki's most visited temples. Located on the slopes near the Market Square pier. You can enjoy the harbour view from the courtyard around the cathedral.

  • Its construction at the top of a hill gives it an unbeatable appearance. Its interior is simple and invites prayer.

  • Uspenski Cathedral is one of the main cathedral and place to visit in Helsinki. The architecture of this church is like Russian style And it's amazing. The church is near the sea and at night it look more beautiful. There are lot of cafes around the church.
  • If you take time to really explore both the exterior and interior of this old Russian Orthodox Cathedral in the heart of Helsinki, you be totally amazed with its structure as a building, but also the significance it has played in Finnish history. It was also fun trying to speak in broken Russian and convoluted English to the priest on duty at the religious souvenir shop inside. Consequently, I couldn't help but but a tiny replica of one the religious icons which cover the inside walls of the church.
