Standing imposingly over Tallinn's old town, St. Olaf’s Church represents both the cultural epicenter of the city's Scandinavian population and the tallest medieval structure in the area. Solidly built during the 12th century and modified several times since, the church dwarfs many of the buildings around it with its 124 m (407 ft) tall tower and spire. Enter the structure and you'll find that although it lacks much of the ornate artwork found in Catholic and Orthodox churches, it still possesses vaulted ceilings, a large organ, and a decorative altar. You can make your way to the tower's observation deck, where you'll be rewarded with a sweeping view of both sections of the city, modern Tallinn's skyscrapers, and the Gulf of Finland. Check the church's website for information on worship and service times; it has an active congregation. The name of the church comes from the Norwegian king "Olav the Holy" which worked in Norway just after the 1000 century. Free entrance to the church!
旧市街の北の方、太っちょマルゲリータ近くにある、塔の高い教会。 塔は3.00€で登ることができタリンの街を一望することができます。ただ、エレベーターはなく自力での登りなのでなかなか体力がいるので注意。 more »The high Church of the tower, near the Fat Man Margherita, in the north of the old town. The tower can be climbed at 3.00 € and overlooks the city of Tallinn. However, because it is a climb of the self without an elevator, attention is quite physical strength.
This 124m tall church is a sight to admire. Do read about it's history, as it's fascinating - from being the tallest in the world to it's tower being used as a surveillance deck during soviet times. Also, if you're not afraid, climb up to it's observation deck. The views of Tallinn are marvellous.
Ancient church, preserved nicely! The view from the top of the church is awesome! But you have to climb up stairs to reach on the top! There isan entrance fee of 3 Euros per adult
