A model of urban regeneration, Malecon 2000 provides a wide range of attractions and entertainment options along the Guayas River. Once little more than a pathway, the boardwalk fell into disrepair in the 20th century before its re-inauguration as a public space in 1999. Wander along the 2.5 km (1.5 mi) waterfront packed with monuments, historical buildings, gardens, museums, and more. Afterwards, kick back with a drink or a bite to eat at one of the many food courts, bars, and cafes scattered along its length, or simply find a comfortable green space and people-watch. It gives the idea of seaside towns and not rivers.
Great family place to visit, beautiful views from La Perla, the ferris wheel however it is hot in there if you are going in the day time. Fun rides for the kids and a nice arcade. Recommend visiting!
This is Guayaquil's Riverside boardwalk. Has a few restaurants and a small amusement park. The Malecon 2000 actually has a gate with security guards. It's close to the old/historic/original Guayaquil. The water has a lot of debris due to two river systems meeting at that point. In the distance you can see an island uninhabited by humans, only crocodiles.
