Stand on one of the most northerly points of Denmark, with your feet in two seas at once, at Grenen. The point is lined with soft, white sand and offers expansive views of the waves created by the meeting of the two different waters: the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. Hop on a tractor leaving from the visitor center for a quick ride down to the beach, where you can watch the sunset or take a walk. Be on the lookout for the seals, whales, and orcas that are often spotted in the water. The area is very exposed to the elements and is known to be quite windy, so check the weather forecast ahead of time and prepare accordingly. Keep in mind that swimming is prohibited, as the currents are dangerously strong. Grenen is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Skagen Edition.
What an interesting place this is. You can really see two seas meeting up and crashing their waves from left and from right! Quite busy, obviously, nevertheless really nice walk. From the car park the... more »
En helt fantastisk gåtur fra parkeringspladsen og ud til spidsen af Grenen og tilbage. Man kan selvfølgelig også tage "Sandormen", som er en sporvogn, som trækkes af en traktor. Of course, you can also take the "Sandworm", which is a tram that is pulled by a tractor. In mid-May there is the bird festival, where in selected places are ornithologists who tell about which migratory birds are flying.
It might be just a little pointy bit of the top of Denmark, but it simply beautiful and the invigorating. I loved watching the waves coming from different directions and slapping together like a big watery kiss. However it can get busy so choose your visit time carefully.
Interesting location where two Seas meet. The currents at the tip of the peninsula create an interesting effect. The beach is cool and there is a nice ride on a cabin on wheels pulled by a tractor out to the point. It's a nice way to spend a few hours. Very windy and I imagine in bad weather that it may not be so much fun.
